Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has unveiled a special development package worth Rs. 200 billion for Hazara Division.
The announcement came during a meeting at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House with parliamentarians from Hazara, where consultations were held on shaping the province’s upcoming Annual Development Programme (ADP).
During the session, lawmakers urged the federal government to dualize the Haripur–Mansehra GT Road, which falls under the National Highway Authority (NHA).
The chief minister said the provincial government would also extend financial support for the project to improve travel and connectivity for residents of Haripur and Mansehra.
Afridi directed that Rs. 50 billion out of the total package be reserved for tourism-related development, signaling a push to strengthen Hazara’s tourism potential.
He also asked elected representatives to hold a separate consultative meeting to recommend projects for inclusion in the special package.
The chief minister further announced that a notification will be issued to upgrade Allai into a separate district.
He said the next fiscal year’s ADP will be structured differently than previous years, with an emphasis on large-scale projects, direct public benefit, and timely completion of ongoing schemes.
He added that PC-1 documents for proposed projects will be prepared before the ADP is finalized, with special attention given to underdeveloped districts across the province.
The meeting was attended by the Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, along with members of the National Assembly and Provincial Assembly from Hazara Division.
