PM Petrol Relief Scheme: Registration Message Service Made Free, Federal Minister Engages Public for Third Consecutive Day 

On the directive of the Prime Minister, the SMS service for registration under the Prime Minister’s Petrol Relief Scheme has been made completely free of cost, allowing citizens across the country to register without incurring any additional expense.

Under the scheme, eligible citizens,  motorcycle, rickshaw, and small vehicle (up to 800 cc) owners, can avail a discount of Rs. 100 per litre on petrol. Motorcycle and rickshaw owners are entitled to up to 20 litres of subsidized petrol per month, while owners of vehicles up to 800 cc can avail up to 30 litres monthly. 

To register, citizens must send an SMS from their own registered SIM to 9771 in the following format: REG, CNIC number, vehicle registration number, provincial code, and vehicle registration date (in DDMMYYYY format), with no dashes or extra spaces. Once registration is successfully verified, users receive a confirmation SMS. Before visiting a petrol pump, users must also send TOK to 9771 to receive their fuel relief token, which must be shown at the pump to avail the discounted rate.

Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja visited several petrol pumps alongside the district administration to personally review the on-ground implementation of the scheme. This marked the third consecutive day that the federal minister engaged directly with the public, answering their questions and addressing concerns related to the initiative. 

Speaking on the occasion, Shaza Fatima Khawaja said that since yesterday, the Prime Minister’s Petrol Relief Scheme has been benefiting citizens across the country. She emphasized that the targeted relief has been specifically designed for the deserving segments of society.

The federal minister directed the administration to play its full role in ensuring an uninterrupted supply of subsidized petrol to eligible citizens. She warned that the administration would deal strictly with anyone found delaying or creating hurdles in the provision of discounted petrol. 

She also urged citizens to complete their registration strictly through the prescribed procedure to avoid any inconvenience or delay in receiving the benefit.
