NADRA-Linked Database to Give Every Suspect a Unique Crime ID

Police and investigative agencies are set to gain access to a unified, AI-powered criminal database under a new nationwide identification system being developed by the Interior Ministry.

The initiative centers on the National Criminal Data Bank, which will assign every individual on record a unique National Criminal Identification Number, referred to as UNCI.

According to officials, the system marks a significant step in efforts to modernize the country’s approach to citizen security and law enforcement coordination.

A key feature of the plan is its integration with NADRA’s identity database. By linking criminal records to NADRA’s existing identity infrastructure, authorities aim to consolidate a person’s scattered records from different cities and provinces into a single, searchable identity profile.

This is expected to make it significantly easier for police and investigators to trace wanted individuals and retrieve their complete history, no matter where in the country they are located.

The system will also draw on artificial intelligence and data analytics to support investigative work, including detecting crime patterns, flagging suspicious associations, and uncovering organized criminal networks that might otherwise go unnoticed.

Officials say the nationally integrated framework will improve coordination and information-sharing among law enforcement institutions, ultimately strengthening crime prevention and public safety efforts across the country.
