Upper Chitral: ‘Mohsin-e-Chitral Package’ gets administrative approval
CHITRAL: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has granted
administrative approval to the Rs4.95 billion “Mohsin-e-Chitral Package” for
Upper Chitral, paving the way for the execution of a number of development
projects in the district.
According to a statement issued by Afgan Raza, the focal person to
Deputy Speaker KP Assembly Suriya Bibi, the package was approved by Chief
Minister Sohail Khan Afridi, while the Planning and Development Department has
now issued its Administrative Approval.
The PC-I of the package had earlier been approved by the Provincial
Development Working Party (PDWP) at its meeting on August 24, 2026.
The package, with a total estimated cost of Rs4.95 billion,
includes several projects aimed at improving road connectivity, flood
protection, irrigation infrastructure and agricultural facilities in different
parts of Upper Chitral.
Major schemes under the package include construction and
improvement of 20 kilometres of the Mastuj-Broghil Pass Road and four
kilometres of the Reshun Power House Road. Various PCC roads will also be
constructed in the Torkhow and Mulkhow areas.
The package also includes construction of RCC bridges at Parpesh
and Warijun, 19 flood protection schemes, construction and improvement of 19
irrigation channels and construction of check dams at three locations.
According to the statement, Rs2.70 billion has been allocated for
the Communication and Works Department, while Rs2.25 billion has been earmarked
for the Irrigation Department.
The statement said the projects were aimed at improving road
connectivity, protecting communities and agricultural land from floods and
erosion, and expanding irrigation facilities in Upper Chitral.
It added that the schemes would soon be put out to tender, after
which work on the projects would commence.
